Humility is the most powerful remedy.

I keep hearing how “the policies” matter more than “the person” – especially as it pertains to our political elections – yet in all practicality this is quite the opposite, as one’s policies will quickly conform to one’s character since the person and his/her policies cannot be separated one from the other.

They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.” 2 Peter 2:22 (NLT)

It’s troubling to watch the countless screen addicts and those involved in all out love affairs with their phones, yet living in total denial of how “strung out” they are all day long, never looking up, listening to, or noticing anyone or anything presently around them.

Don’t be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. 2 Timothy 3:1-4 (MSG)

And all of the above is what we see in the NFL every Sunday (and Monday, Thursday, and some Saturdays). So how about we just make it about the game instead of the glamour, glitz, greed, and garbage – we don’t need to watch entertainers performing, hear players and coaches endlessly using the F-word, flaunting and taunting opponents, fans fighting in the stands, choreographed touchdown dances, and hours upon hours upon hours of hearing dozens of ex-players, ex-coaches, and analysts flapping their mouths before and after it all takes place. Most of us absolutely live football – so let’s just make it about football and let players play, coaches coach, officials officiate, and fans cheer. (period)
