PSYCHOLOGY: the study of how sin – and the menace, mayhem, and malfunction it produces – is manifested through the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of human beings, and how this influences and affects our lives and relationships.
Many perhaps, may question and argue with this definition, but apart from the fall of humankind in the Garden of Eden and the fact that sin became a part of our DNA from that moment on, there would likely be no reason to study how we think, feel, and behave if sin didn’t exist. Without sin, and the flaws and brokenness it generates in us and in our lives, we would all be doing all the right things in all the right ways at just the right times. But we don’t do that do we? No, most of us have little or large abnormalities and we find a variety of maladaptive ways to cope with or compensate for these – both in dealing with our own issues, and with other peoples issues.
If we can be honest with ourselves, we must admit that each one of us is a good study in the field of psychology. We are fallen people who inhabit a fallen world; thus making sure the hope, that only GOD’s grace and the forgiveness found through faith in His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ, can cure and heal our flawed and broken lives and relationships.
